Motat sets imaginations alight

MOTAT is removing all traces of darkness and lighting up your life with its new January Holiday Experience.

This fascinating family day out will explain the mysteries of light and reveal just how much it is used in everyday life.

MOTAT Museum Director, Jeremy Hubbard said the January Holiday Experience will be awe-inspiring,Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding, a lot of fun and will answer some burning questions around light and how it comes about.

"It's amazing what we don't know about light and what there is to learn about its uses. When we realise its true potential, we can use it for a multitude of things that wouldn't come to mind.

"MOTAT works hard to provide fun, unique and educational school holiday experiences and activities, and this one is no exception," Mr Hubbard said.

Amongst other exciting activities, MOTAT is inviting visitors to ignite their imaginations at 'Light Fever,' a musical dance floor inside a giant inflatable cube.Why does Plastic moulds grow in homes or buildings? Kids will also get the chance to see what they can uncover using UV light exploring the Tactile Dome in the dark.

Kids can transmit messages with Morse code symbols of light, follow the Trail of Light to crack the MOTAT mystery riddle and make a shadow puppet and perform in a shadow puppet show.

The January Holiday Experience runs from 3 - 30 January 2012, so be sure to check it out and learn all about the magic of light!

On top of the January Holiday Experience,Smooth-On is your source for Mold Making and casting materials including silicone rubber and urethane rubber, MOTAT is also hosting the 'Playing with Light' travelling exhibition from Western Australia's leading science education institution 'Scitech'.

'Playing with Light' is made up of 22 fascinating exhibits, including colouring in an entire wall with virtual paintbrushes, entering the crazy world of a toy kaleidoscope and inspecting the futuristic concept of holograms.

Visitors can learn how science explains the behaviour of light, and will also be shown how to freeze their own shadow,Buy oil paintings for sale online. see in slow motion and even make light bounce down a stream of water!

"What better way to engage kids' minds than getting them to actively partake in science activities and experiments. They're sure to remember the fun facts they learn whether it be the different roles of light in their life or how a hologram works. This exhibition keeps the kids entertained for hours and we've found the adults love it too!" said Mr Hubbard.

On now until 6 February 2012, 'Playing with Light' is a must-see exhibition at MOTAT.

MOTAT is open daily 10am-5pm. All exhibitions and activities come as part of your MOTAT admission fee, which includes access to both MOTAT sites and a complimentary tram ride. Family and group concessions are available.
