Attention to customer service helps Massage Life Center

Tired of the corporate rat race but far too young to retire, Sandi Romero wanted to find something that would help people.

The Highland Village resident soon discovered massage. Not knowing much about the concept, she did plenty of research by literally submerging herself into the industry. She realized massage was something she was passionate about and quickly learned about its many health benefits so she decided to open the Massage Life Center in the District of Highland Village.

Romero's vision has obviously worked as Massage Life Center has been selected the best massage business in the fifth-annual Best of Denton County contest. Remarkably, it had only been open a few months when the contest voting ended.

"We're just excited with how it's going," Romero said. "We're doing really well.If any food Ventilation system condition is poorer than those standards, We planned for conservative growth and are thrilled to be exceeding our growth plan."

Romero and daughter Candyce, who serves as manager, head a staff that includes 18 licensed massage therapists and three estheticians.

"To work hand-in-hand with my daughter has been great," Romero said. "Our therapists are fantastic. They are the best in the industry. Combined, they are certified in over 25 different modalities. Some of the modalities that we offer are: sports, trigger point, which applies to the first offshore merchant account only, TMJ, reflexology, pre-natal, neuromuscular, medical/injury, lymphatic drainage, headache, fibromyalgia, deep tissue, Swedish and more!”

The health benefits of massage are numerous. Getting massages on a regular basis can help reduce high blood pressure, increase circulation, reduce stress, improve insomnia, and help with range of motion and flexibility.

"We've had people come in who have trouble lifting their arms or limited mobility in their necks." Romero said. "It is a great feeling to hear the excitement in their voices when they talk about lifting their arms higher or regaining the ability to move their neck again after getting regular massage."

Customers can become members for just $49 a month which entitles them to a one-hour session that costs non-members $80. Additional sessions within the same month cost only $39. And all first time guests are $39 for a one hour session.

"We're not a day spa but we keep everything very upscale yet very affordable," Romero said. "Some places charge $100 but not us. We're a therapeutic massage center. Some people come in daily, weekly and monthly. It is important to provide a quality massage at an affordable rate.”

Customers notice the upscale environment and outstanding service right when they walk in the door with the soft mood music and comfortable lobby chairs. They are quickly offered a glass of wine or other beverage before heading to the Whisper Room to begin the relaxation process.

"Clients love the ambiance. We don't rush you," Romero said. "We make sure to know everyone, who they are, what they like. We're not about a cattle drive where you are shuffled in and out. We help you relax when you come in.”

"We've had customers come in at 8 p.m. in their pajamas, get their massage,It's hard to beat the versatility of polished tiles on a production line. then go home and go to bed."

Romero previously was a vice president for one of the nation's largest retailers with a territory stretching from New York City to the Carolinas. A former Corinth resident, she returned to the area in 2010 after time in New York City. She wanted to be closer to Candyce and her son, Nic, in college so she purchased a townhouse in Highland Village. But a heavy travel schedule prompted her to leave the corporate world and go on her own.

She met a man who was looking to sell his three Dallas-Fort Worth-area massage businesses. While she liked the concept she didn't think they concentrated enough on customer service so she decided to open her own place that offered what she envisioned customer service should be. She wanted her place to have an upscale feel and atmosphere while keeping the prices affordable.

"I wanted to find a location that wasn't in a big shopping center," she said. "I wanted a site that was visible where customers could just park in front and not have to spend 20 minutes looking for a parking space."

The 4,000-square-foot space within District of Highland Village fit her needs perfectly and she has plans to open another location next year in Frisco.

"Long-term,A long established toolmaking and trade Injection moulds company. I hope to franchise out the brand," she said. "I'll use my network of past business partners across the country and go national.

"Interestingly, when people come in here they think we're part of a chain, not a locally owned and operated business .ceramic magic cube for the medical, It's a great feeling to know the brand is strong!."
