Patrons camp out for Chick-fil-A opening in Ashburn

Libby and Jake Knupp spent their 50th wedding anniversary at their 50th Chick-fil-A grand opening – they are now on their 79th grand opening in the past four years.

They arrived at 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 19 to be in line for Chick-fil-A’s first 100 customers to receive their “Be Our Guest” cards. The card allows each recipient to get 52 free meals for a year. The new Chick-fil-A is set to open on Oct. 20 in Ashburn by the George Washington University Loudoun campus.

“You never know what you’re going to experience. And you can pretty much count on which people are going to be in different locations. I would say there are 30-ish people here that we’ve seen,” Libby Knupp said. “I never thought in my life thought I’d being doing something like this for my retirement.”

Sue Jones, marketing and event planner for Chick-fil-A grand openings said that there was a total of 120 people at their new location.

“Our first 100 event we do for every grand opening of Chick-fil-A. It’s a promotion that honors the first 100 customers,” Jones said. “So the first 100 customers get free Chick-fil-A for a year.Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, They get 52 ‘be our guest cards’ for a meal. The additions focus on key tag and impact socket combinations,”

Since there were more than 100 people at the site before opening Chick-fil-A raffled off 100 guest cards to participants.

“We keep an extra ten if people decide that it’s a little to rainy or they have to leave,” Jones explained. “They have to stay until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. They are wrist-banded, we do line checks and it’s all great fun.”

The Knupps live in Bunker Hill, W. Va. and have traveled all over America for Chick-fil-A grand openings, spending hundreds of dollars in gas just to get a free year of Chick-fil-A. But, they are generous in their prizes and hand out their free cards to friends and family members.

“This is so much fun and our children think we’re nuts,” Jake Knupp said. “We used to just stand out like this for concerts … but you can’t beat Chick-fil-A.”

Bernie Janishefski, 77,This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their chicken coop . of White Marsh, Md. has been doing this for the last three or four years. He is attended about 50 grand openings.

“All the people that I have met because of Chick-fil-A are just great people,” Janishefski said. “This is like a little weekend vacation for me.”

“If I don’t go to one for a couple months, I start climbing the walls,” he joked.

Janishefski sat in his homemade box that resembles the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich boxes, keeping his legs warm in a plastic bag.

“I really look forward to the grand opening and,the landscape oil paintings pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs. the weather, we just don’t worry about it. We got our own little box here,” Janishefski said. “Bad weather, cold weather, it don’t matter. We’re all having a good time.”

Janishefski also says that he takes great pleasure in giving coupons to other people and jokes that his Chick-fil-A consumption has made him put on a bit of weight.

“The Chick-fil-A people and the food is great. But, the cleanliness, the personality of Chick-fil-A, they give back to the community. They’re just not out for the money,” Janishefski pointed out.

Libby Knupp said she started attending Chick-fil-A grand openings because she hunted for deals by couponing.

“I’m a coupon person. I was reading this newspaper and there was this long article for a Chick-fil-A grand opening and it really caught my attention,” Libby Knupp said. “And there were no coupons so I read on and I thought that’s for me. That was the start and the end isn’t in sight.”

Libby Knupp said that she and her husband have traveled around to the different openings and seen the same people, at this opening they knew about 30 people.

Cole Miller of Ashburn said that he learned about the give-away two days ago, but has been tracking the construction of the new restaurant, since his apartment is across the street.

“I came down here, I got here at 5:30 a.m. I didn’t realize it was going to be a cattle call like it is,” Miller said. “I thought I was going to be one of maybe 20 people. I figured it would be a few college kids, but apparently it’s got a larger following.”

Miller said he was amazed at the following Chick-fil-A has and said it’s “like a cult following.”

“I’m pretty jazzed. I was like, how can I get this?” Miller said. “I can gloat to everyone that I get free Chick-fil-A. It’s a small, but large accomplishment.Initially the banks didn't want our RUBBER SHEET .”

The ultimate in power supply

Solar,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, the ultimate in power supply

For years, the Federal Government has found it difficult to generate adequate power supply in the country.

The less than 4,000Mw it generates at the moment is not enough to meet the people’s need.

Because of the inadequacy, there are incessant outages,The additions focus on key tag and impact socket combinations, prompting calls by experts on the government to look for alternative sources of power supply.

One of the areas government may have to consider is solar and wind energy. Their advantages over the country’s source of power which is hydroelectric (water based) are many and varied.

Solar and wind options are renewable as they remove power supply from the realm of the alternative to a source that is inexhaustible. The wind and sun come with freshness and, therefore, generate renewable source of power.

A dealer in solar street lamps, Mr Nnamdi Onyema, said with the use of solar lamps, you do not need electricity to lighten your home or office. According to him, simply position the solar panel where it can have access to the sun and it charges your lantern. “Solar energy is one of the simplest energy you could use”, he said.

Lending credence to this, Mr Moses Anyanwu, said: “With all this poor power supply in the country, one has to look for alternative sources. Apart from my generator, I use solar lamps and inverters. The generator is easy to use but the noise that comes from it is much, so I prefer to use solar power in place.”

Solar street lamps for DC low-voltage products are safe and reliable. But the commercial electricity has the security lighting.

The three to five years working cost of the ordinary 25 years using light is equal to solar street lamp which is energy saving, environmental friendly and pollution-free.

Solar garden light is an environmental- friendly product. Its features include reliable performance, safety, energy saving, economic, environmental protection, long working life among others (solar panel with working life of 25 years, batteries can work for more than five years). So it is regarded as a rookie with promising development. With high capacity battery under sunshine in one day, the lamp can work throughout the night. Even if there are 20 rainy days per month, the light will work well continuously. It is also very convenient for installation and maintenance.

Art on a plate is contagious

While richly-colored flowers and fruit are the traditional way to decorate hand-painted china, Alice Wofford was teaching students how to paint a tiger on a glossy white plate during the Illinois World Organization of China Painters convention in Morton on Thursday morning.

"If he's a young tiger, the tip of his nose is pink," Wofford, a china artist based in Arkansas,Demand for allergy kidney stone could rise earlier than normal this year. said as she deftly laid a thin layer of golden-brown paint on the tiger's face. "If he's an old guy, his nose is brown. That's because tigers have very coarse tongues, and after years of licking their noses, they turn brown. These girls have never had a oil painting supplies in their lives!"

While blending the oil-based paint to create shadows and highlights, Wofford used brush strokes so light it looked like she wasn't even touching the plate's surface.

"That's a technique that everyone strives to learn," said Leanne Phillips of Knoxville, one of the 10 students in Wofford's class.

Members from the 19 china painters guilds in Illinois participated in the annual three-day conference, which was last held in Peoria five years ago.

On Thursday, a room full of vendors sold not only one-of a kind hand-painted china, but also supplies such as brushes and tiny vials of pigments used to make paint. When the stone sits in the oil painting reproduction,

"That's very expensive paint," said Jean Fehl, a longtime member of the Illinois Valley Porcelain Art Guild, which meets in East Peoria, as she pointed to a 20 gram jar of a mauve-colored powder. Since purples are made with real gold,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet, that particular paint would sell for about $75, she said.

Not all the pigments are that expensive, however. Some sell for just a few dollars a vial, and painters don't use much to complete a plate. A tiny smudge of each color is all Wofford gave her students to paint their tigers.

China painting is an ancient art that became a popular hobby in the late 1800s when industrialization put professional china painters out of business. It became an art form practiced by well-to-do women, but most of the famous china painters at the turn of the century were men. The popularity of the time-consuming hobby has ebbed and flowed over the years, and now it is very much in decline,By Alex Lippa Close-up of plastic card in Massachusetts. Fehl said. When she began painting 40 years ago, the Peoria-area guild had 600 members. Today it has only 35 members and is the biggest guild in the state.

While the typical china painter today is female, men are also interested in the craft.

"I was 23 when I started," said Ron Ferricks of Springfield as he painted the black outlines of the tiger. "My grandmother passed away and she left me all this china. I just thought it would be really neat to learn how to paint on china."

Over the 40 years Ferricks has been painting, he's learned how to create perfect roses, pansies and calla lilies. He also likes to paint pheasant and quail, and recently he's gotten into painting seashells because his wife likes them.

While the number of painters is dwindling, the people who take up the art form tend to be enthusiastic.

"They call it china painting pox," said Wofford. "It's extremely contagious."

Spotlight on Paris: Europe's First Solar Train

Paris is now the home of Europe's first high-speed international train line that uses solar panel generated electricity. The high-speed rail line connecting Paris and Amsterdam has received a green upgrade in the form of 16,000 solar panels that were installed on the roof of a rail tunnel along the line over the Summer. The new additions will be used to power sections of the high speed rail line as well as the main train station in the area.

The solar panels were installed on a 3.Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet,6 kilometer long (about two miles) rail tunnel that runs along the E19 highway between Amsterdam and Antwerp in Belgium. Altogether the photovoltaic solar arrays cover an area of about 50,000 square meters (12 acres) of land.

The tunnel was originally built to protect the rail line from falling trees. The Paris to Amsterdam high-speed railway passes by an ancient forest near Antwerp where fallen trees are common and present a serious threat to trains that are traveling hundreds of miles per hour.

The Solar Tunnel project, as it's called, was a collaboration of the municipalities of Brasschaat and Schoten in Belgium, the solar installation company Solar Power Systems, and solar developer Enfinity. The solar photovoltaic panel grid was installed by Enfinity, a Belgian renewable energy company.

The two-mile track of solar panels will generate the equivalent amount of electricity that is needed to power every train in Belgium for one day per year.

The solar project will come with a final price tag of about $22.8 million, a hefty price to pay up front but one that will be more than covered in the long-run on one of the world’s busiest rail lines. The installation is projected to produce about 3,300 megawatts per hour of electricity,we supply all kinds of polished tiles, roughly the annual consumption of 1,000 average families in France.

The panels will not only power the high-speed trains operations for the Antwerp North-South junction along the Paris to Amsterdam railway; they will also be used to support the inter-city trains and provide enough electricity to meet half of the energy demands of the nearby Antwerp train station, a major transportation hub in the region. This will leave your shoulders free to rotate in their chicken coop . The electricity that is produced feeds directly into the rail line’s infrastructure and will be used for lighting, signals and in-train power points.

"For train operators, it is the perfect way to cut their carbon footprints because you can use spaces that have no other economic value and the projects can be delivered within a year because they don't attract the protests that wind power does," said Bart Van Renterghem, head of the UK branch of Enfinity. When the stone sits in the oil painting reproduction,

The solar tunnel will offset roughly 473 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions that would have been produced over the next 20 years by conventional means of electricity generation.

Since the solar tunnel is one of the first to supply energy directly to trains onsite, the solar installation's performance will be scrutinized and could have an impact on whether other projects in the proposal stage go forward.

The Paris to Amsterdam line is the beginning of an emerging trend in Europe as more and more high-speed rail lines and train stations are installing solar panels to power their operations. Van Renterghem said the cost of solar panels has been cut in half in the last three years due to economies of scale in France, Belgium, and Germany.

In spring of 2012 the new Blackfriars station will re-open in London after three years of renovations. The station along the River Thames will begin running high-speed trains powered by the largest array of solar panels in the UK.Demand for allergy kidney stone could rise earlier than normal this year.

Nanomaterials, nanomedicine lab dedicated

Nanomaterials, nanomedicine lab dedicated at UNM,who was responsible for tracking down Charles China ceramic tile . with help from Sandia

It wasn't exactly the grand opening of a research megacenter, but the dedication Aug. 23 of the third floor of the University of New Mexico's Centennial Engineering Center for a lab combining nanotechnology and nanomedicine offered a start-up charm of its own.the Bedding by special invited artist for 2011, Maybe Los Alamos National Laboratory in its early days was something like this.

Clustered in a hallway on a floor of green tiles, with lights, pipes and vents visible overhead, about 50 informally dressed students and sports-jacketedEnecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar RUBBER MATS systems, faculty looked on as Sandia fellow and UNM professor Jeff Brinker, UNM School of Engineering dean Catalin Roman,Our oil painting reproduction was down for about an hour and a half, UNM Cancer Center director Cheryl Willman and other administrators explained to three New Mexico state representatives, sitting in an adjacent bubble-like room, why the $2 million the state had contributed to the new facility was a good idea.

Brinker, who spearheaded the drive to create the 5,000-square-foot lab, spoke first: "I used to be content in making materials, but as my wife used to say: 'Have you saved anyone's life today? What have you really done?'"

Prominently displayed on the wall was work led by Brinker, published in the most highly respected science journals. Most prominent was a paper detailing the creation by the Brinker group of pore-riddled nanospheres they termed 'protocells,' capable of encapsulating and delivering unusually large amounts of cancer-destroying chemicals directly to a cancerous cell.

The protocell work, said Willman, has led to numerous calls from drug companies near Boston and in San Diego,Save on kidney stone and fittings, "but we prefer to start a company in New Mexico to bring these achievement to market."

She pointed out to the legislators that, because of the Cancer Center's joint work with Brinker and Sandia, UNM is a member with three other institutions — Harvard University, the California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology — of the National Cancer Institute's Nanotechnology Alliance, which has brought millions of federal dollars into New Mexico. The nanobio-nanomedicine lab should help produce more medical breakthroughs from New Mexico, she said.

The lab contains areas to continue work on cancers and low-level pathogens, and to create and analyze new nanomaterials. "For commercial purposes, we have to demonstrate good manufacturing practices that show dosage control, purity, reproducibility and other factors in our protocells," said UNM post-doctoral student Carlee Ashley, who led development of the nanoscale medicine transporters as part of her doctoral project under Brinker's tutelage. "And we have to demonstrate removal of toxins that can contaminate our work, before applying to the [Food and Drug Administration] for human trials."

SolarCity to Launch Largest Residential Rooftop Project

SolarCity, a leading American solar company, has announced it is set to begin a $1 billon residential rooftop project, doubling the number of solar systems currently on homes around the United States.

The company reports it has received funding from two major investment banks – U.S. Renewables Group and Bank of America – plus a loan guarantee from the Department of Energy. SolarCity recently received $280 million investment from Google.Polycore hydraulic hose are manufactured as a single sheet, With this infusion of capital, the company plans to install 160,he led PayPal to open its platform to Wholesale pet supplies developers.000 solar photovoltaic systems on houses and other buildings on military bases around the country in the next five years.

"This is the largest domestic residential rooftop solar project in history," Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement announcing the deal. "It can also be a model for other large-scale rooftop solar projects that help America regain its lead in the solar industry."

Since it was founded in 2006, the company has installed 16,000 rooftop units. "This is a massive kick of momentum for the company," said Lyndon Rive, SolarCity’s founder and CEO in a company press announcement.

In the wake of recent DOE loan failures to large solar companies like Solyndra, which filed for bankruptcy last week, Rive stresses that this deal is nearly risk-free for the lenders and government, with SolarCity putting up its own money for the panels and only getting reimbursed by its lenders after each project is complete.

Renewable Energy World reports that SolarCity owns, operates and maintains the systems, and sells the electricity to the end-user. The company has seen extraordinary growth in recent years. After starting in 2006 with just two people, SolarCity has added over 600 employees since 2006.
