Tulalip artwork for Cabela's means work for many

From the outside, the Cabela's that will open April 19 at Quil Ceda Village looks like any of the retailer's other stores.

Inside, however, this Cabela's will reflect the art and culture of the Tulalip Tribes, on whose land the outdoor outfitter's store sits.Distributes and manufactures RUBBER SHEET. That was something the Tulalips insisted on, said Tulalip artist James Madison.

The tribes' insistence meant work not just for artists but for local businesses that wouldn't typically benefit when a large company like Cabela's comes to town. Working with artists, some got to try new manufacturing techniques. You can see the resulting artwork in the new store when it opens April 19.

When the Tulalips and Cabela's agreed to put tribal artwork in the new retail store, Madison got the call. His work can be found in several of the tribes' business and community buildings, including the Tulalip Resort Casino and the Hibulb Cultural Center. The 38-year-old artist put on hold other projects for the tribal confederation so he could craft six pieces for Cabela's. Other Tulalip artists, including Madison's uncle,Aeroscout stone mosaic provides a complete solution for wireless asset tracking. also were engaged.

The pieces needed to be big to stand out in Cabela's massive retail space. And Madison wanted to incorporate images significant to the tribe. It's something he has been learning to do since he was eight, when Madison would watch his grandfather carve wood and design native art.External Hemroids are those that occur below the dentate line.

After finalizing the designs, Madison tapped the local art community, as one might expect. But he also needed precision machine work on each of the pieces.

Machine shops aren't hard to find in Snohomish County, where the Boeing Co., among others, demands their work.

But tucked away in the corner of its basement, Everett Sound Machine had a secret weapon: a water-jet cutting machine. Water jets can slice lines in material as thin and delicate as toilet paper. The technology also is used to cut through ceramics, stone and composite materials as thick as eight inches.

Owner Michael Greenleaf believes his is the only one operating in Everett. Known for precision, the water jet has enabled Greenleaf to take on a variety of requests.

"We do artsy things that are industrial. We do artsy things that are real art. And then we do just plain work," he said.

The machine uses a tiny stream of high-pressure water. The technology was first developed by a forestry engineer in the 1950s. However, Kent-based Flow International began perfecting and marketing the tool in the 1970s. Flow, which manufactured Greenleaf's water-jet machine, has about 60 percent of the water-jet market share.

Greenleaf estimates a new machine would cost $1 million or more. But he lucked out, he said, and bought his from another company in the area.Secured handsfree building and door access solutions with Hands free access by Nedap AVI.

Over the next several weeks, Lee and Everett Sound Machine left their marks on many of Madison's works for Cabela's. That included cutting various colors of glass in tiny patterns for an elaborate mosaic depicting Tulalip fishermen out on the water. The fishers are holding bright red canoe paddles as a sign of respect for passing whales and salmon. Green waves are under the fishermen, who are framed by mountains and blue sky.

To finish the glass piece, Madison turned to Stan Price, owner of Covenant Art Glass in Everett.

"Typically, we assemble the glass pieces together, solder the (lead) joint and melt it back together," Price said.

Initially, that's what Price did. He and Madison worked with a glassblower in Seattle and a Woodinville company to create the hues of the sky and waves. After Lee and Greenleaf cut the glass, Price's assistant, Tami Bogdanoff, pieced it back together.

Handling the delicate glass is difficult. Bogdanoff spent two days just removing the tiny tags left on the cut glass at Everett Sound Machine Works. Then she fit dozens of glass pieces after smoothing and gently cleaning each one.

Their first effort worked better than expected. Sure, some pieces of glass broke and had to be recut before the entire mosaic was ready. In the process,Promat solid RUBBER MATS are the softest mats on the market! though, Madison and Price realized they'd be able to try a more elaborate, difficult method. They would fuse, or bake, the dozens of individual glass pieces together without lead or solder.

The cut glass pieces have to fit perfectly for the final product to look right. If the pieces fit too loosely, a clear line will be visible when it's heated back together.

"By teaming up with (Madison) and the tribe, I'm using technology that I wouldn't be able to do on my own," Price said.

Before this project, Price would not have suggested to customers that glass be cut with water jet, though he knew the technology was around. Having gained experience with the water-jet machine, Price feels more confident in using the technology in the future.

Coon Rapids man at odds with city over reptile collection

Under other circumstances, the room off Scott Nellis's entry-way in to his split level Coon Rapids home might be used as an office or a den. Nellis uses it to house some 70 boa constrictors and pythons.

They live in cages stacked floor to ceiling along all four of the room's walls; a row running down the center cuts the room in two. Peering through the glass doors are snakes of all sizes. The smallest weighs less than a pound. The biggest - an Argentinean Boa and one of Nellis's favorites - weighs 28 pounds and runs about seven and a half feet from tongue to tail.InLocality specializes in indoor Tracking Technologies.Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality,

Throughout the house, Nellis has about 360 snakes. Most live in clear, plastic dresser drawers stacked on top of each other in the basement. Each is carefully labeled with the specie's name, sex and the date Nellis bought it, creating a gigantic filing system of snakes throughout the lower level.

The UPS driver also has 60 lizards, about 250 rats and mice and two huge tubs crawling with cockroaches.Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. The rodents and roaches are feed for the reptiles. The snakes and lizards are personal pets and inventory. Nellis - a snake breeder - sells them at reptile expos across the Midwest.

The years-long gig - he started in 1996 but ramped things up in 2004 - ran uninterrupted until October, xcel Mould is a Custom Mold Making, when the city found out about his unusual roommates when a neighbor complained of a foul smell coming from a pile of discarded wood-shavings in Nellis' backyard.

Now Nellis finds himself in a fight with Coon Rapids officials who say his 700-plus animals have rendered his home unsafe and unfit for human habitation. They ordered Nellis to get rid of them.

He's hoping to convince city officials otherwise at a meeting Friday, March 23.

"This is my private life we're talking about," Nellis said. "It's my contention the city has no business whatsoever trying to dictate what I do legally inside my house."

When it comes to health and safety, the city begs to differ, said City Attorney Stoney Hiljus. He said a search of Nellis's home in October uncovered several potential risk factors.

Among them, inspectors found a web of extension chords used to regulate lighting and temperature for the reptiles that pose a fire hazard, Hiljus said.

Officials also said his setup in the upstairs room - cages creates two narrow passageways and partially blocks a set of windows - is hazardous for potential firefighters responding to a call in the house. Last, a check of air quality in the residence found ammonia levels in excess of 20-parts per million, Hiljus said. Animal waste creates ammonia. Most homes register less than one part per million. In high levels, the substance can cause respiratory issues, Hiljus said.

To top it off,Injection molding and Plastic molding supplier, the city's 2010 revised domestic animal ordinance prohibits private ownership of pythons and boas. Nellis is also technically not allowed to operate a business out of his home without a conditional use permit.

"I understand Mr. Nellis's standpoint that this is his home and he should be able to do what he wants within his own four walls, but we can't ignore what we see," Hiljus said, explaining that without the neighbor's complaint, Nellis might have been able to continue his business and hobby for years.

The neighbor, Ken Botzet, could not be reached for comment.

"Now that we're aware of these code violations we have no choice but to get involved," Hiljus said.

What that involvement will mean is still unclear.

The City Council voted earlier this month to table action on city staff's order that Nellis clear his house of all his animals. Instead, they've advised staff to try and negotiate with the snake-lover, who developed a fondness for reptiles after chasing around frogs and garden snakes at his grandparents' lake place in Mahnomen County in northwest Minnesota.

To Hiljus, a successful negotiation would mean Nellis getting rid of all his pythons and boas. In addition to the exotic snakes, Nellis also has over a hundred Colubrid snakes that aren't forbidden by city ordinance. Those numbers would be whittled to a "reasonable amount," Hiljus said.

Nellis says he has invested about $40,000 in to his snakes and equipment over the years, with most the money tied up in his pythons and boas. To get rid of them would be tough, particularly in this economy, and would impact his ability to successfully breed.

Even more so, it would hinder his hobby.

"This is what I do. I enjoy interacting with reptiles. They're different. They're calming. I enjoy watching their behaviors," he said.

To compromise, Nellis said he'd buy an air purifier to help ammonia levels and reduce his snakes to around 260 or 300. He doesn't want to let all his pythons and boas go though and feels its unfair of the city to demand it, particularly because he purchased most while the city's ordinance still allowed them.

Instead, he said he'd like to see the city change its ordinance back, a move Nellis said makes a lot of sense considering the city already allows pet stores to sell them. He also points out that neither species is venomous.

Hiljus said the city modeled its animal ordinance off others in the state and said it would be up to the council to change it. He's hopeful a "reasonable" solution can be reached within the confines of the ordinance, he added.

Welcome to Emotional Loyalty

I had an epiphany about emotional loyalty in Target yesterday. I was buying a welcome mat – a pedestrian purchase (literally), almost too banal and mundane to write about. Target had a dozen or so on display, and as I debated about the coir with red poppies versus the streamlined rubber grid, I suddenly realized that I wasn't looking for a welcome mat.InLocality specializes in indoor Tracking Technologies. I wanted a vehicle for self-expression.

Consumer brand affinity can be sorted into essentially two camps: transactional loyalty,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. in which customers buy your product because it's easy,All RUBBER MATS is comprised of all types of mats, affordable and does the job; and emotional loyalty,TBC help you confidently purchase China ceramic tile from factories in China. when customers buy the brand because it helps them express who they really are. What is the top Hemorrhoids treatment?

The thing is, today's consumers are all looking to make purchases based on emotional loyalty. That's because most of the products out there meet a consumer's basic needs for functionality, performance and affordability. When those basic needs are met, consumers move up Maslow's hierarchical pyramid to the higher-level desires – things like love and self-actualization.

Love from a welcome mat? Target's dozen mats all offered me functionality, affordability, and even some cute decorative options, but I found myself wanting more. I wanted a relationship. I wanted a welcome mat that truly understood me. Am I a floral person? Or do I prefer geometrics? Am I the matchy-matchy type who wants the mat to fit my house style? Or someone who is willing to “break a look” with clashing styles? My mat needed to support me, and sing my praises to everyone who comes to my front door.

Is your loyalty program offering customers the opportunity to express themselves? Can they align themselves with their preferred brand, via their preferred channel, at their preferred touchpoint? Customers want more than value, it's not just me looking for self-actualization from a welcome mat. This is evidenced from COLLOQUY's 2011 Cross Cultural Research Study [link], in which consumers in the U.S. and Canada say that their loyalty program communications are less relevant than ever.

Ultimately, I left the store empty handed. Loveless. Un-actualized. When you can have any “pretty good” mat, then only the perfect one will do.

Ahead Of Funding News, Boku Debuts NFC-Enabled Mobile Payments Platform

Boku is debuting a brand new mobile payments platform today, that aims to disrupt the current way that consumers pay for goods via their mobile phones or credit cards. As you may remember, Boku offers an online payments platform that allowed users to pay for online goods by charging the transaction to their mobile phone bill. When a user wants to purchase a virtual item, he can enter his cell phone number on a site, the site sends a text message to the phone, the user confirms the transaction with a short reply,Listing of Taiwan & China Mold Maker manufacturer & suppliers. and all the charges show up on his phone bill.

With Boku’s new product, called Boku Accounts, the startup is expanding online mobile payments technology to cover e-commerce and retail point-of-sale payments.Distributes and manufactures RUBBER SHEET, The payments platform, which will be licensed to carriers, will be embedded on users’ mobile phones as well as via a pre-paid Mastercard credit card.

Basically there are three prongs to Boku’s payments platform: the consumer, the carrier and the merchant. Here’s how it works. The Boku Accounts platform allows carriers to issue their subscribers a branded mobile payment account accessible via both mobile device and the Web. Using an NFC sticker that can be adhered to the phone, and the prepaid credit card, subscribers can make payments online, in-app, and in-store. In-store purchases via Boku accounts will be enabled anywhere credit cards are accepted. Just Choose PTMS plastic injection mould Is Your Best Choice!

Merchants can work with carriers to target subscribers with personalized deals and offers as well as access to loyalty programs. Subscribers can pay via NFC or their pre-paid Mastercard (branded by the carrier), which they are able to add money to. A mobile subscriber will receive a Boku Account from their carrier, which includes a branded mobile payments account, online and mobile access (Web, iPhone, Android,Here's a complete list of oil painting supplies for the beginning oil painter. and HTML5) and more.

Consumers can not only access special offers from participating merchants but can also access a Mint-like platform that tracks their spending via the payments platform. So consumers will be able to see how much they spent on restaurants, transportation and more categories in a given month,

Additionally,All RUBBER MATS is comprised of all types of mats, subscribers can send and receive money via person-to-person transactions completed by phone.

As Boku’s President Ron Hirson explains to me, this is Boku’s “most significant announcement since its launch.” “We want to go to everyday purchases and help change the way that cash is transacted,” he says. He adds that while NFC reach is currently limited, he feels there is potential for the technology to be more widely adopted.

It’s important to note that carrier partnerships are key for Boku to expand this offering. This platform is completely dependent on carriers adopting this as a way to offer mobile payments for its subscribers. It’s a white label offering.

And Boku Accounts is not contingent on merchant adoption. Even if merchants don’t opt in to create offers or deals, users can still use the payments option via the credit card or NFC chip (at NFC enabled terminals).Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. For now, Boku isn’t ready to announce any carrier partnerships yet but Hirson says the company currently has a trial running with a major carrier in the U.K.

It will be interesting to see if Boku can land any major carriers in the U.S. It’s unclear what the financial terms will be at this point (we do know Boku does take a rev share on merchant offers), but even one carrier partnership could be potentially huge. Boku has been increasingly negotiating direct carrier partnerships for its online mobile payments offering, so the company is certainly familiar with this territory.

With its mobile payments products for online transactions, Boku mainly faces competition from eBay-owned rival Zong. With this new technology, Boku now finds itself competing with NFC-enabled platforms like Google Wallet as well as PayPal’s new retail point of sale system. Hirson doesn’t see BOKU Accounts as competitive to Google or PayPal though. He believes that because Boku isn’t requiring merchants to re-terminalize, or add any new technologies to the actual payment experience since Boku’s platform uses a prepaid card in addition to NFC.

This new platform is debuting ahead of a new funding announcement that Boku is expected to disclose (along with a new carrier investor) next week. To date, Boku has raised $38 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, Index Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

Architect designs modern, green home

Rome architect Mark Cochran has made a name for himself through several projects involving restoration or rehabilitation of historic buildings in Rome.

This year,Our guides provide customers with information about porcelain tiles vs. Cochran is taking a whole new tack, merging green living and modern design into a home that is being constructed as a LEED certified home, the first in Floyd County and perhaps the first in Northwest Georgia.

As an architect who has done several historic preservation projects, and is a member of Rome’s Historic Preservation Commission, Cochran said the best way to do preservation is to make sure that what you build will last.

“If we can build a building that is going to last for 120 years, we don’t’ have to tear one down every 20 years and build it back,” said Cochran, of Cochran Design Collaborative. “That saves resources, man-hours and things that could be put to better use.”

LEED construction must meet a strict point-based certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, which accounts for how well a structure performs as an environmentally friendly project.

In Rome, the ECO River Education Center at Ridge Ferry Park, new dormitories at Berry College, the Darlington Middle School campus and a public housing development, the Village Green off Division Street, have all been constructed to LEED standards in recent years.

All but the Village Green have received their formal certification as LEED buildings.

Certification of a home is significantly different than a commercial building.

LEED has come up with the average home size for a particular amount of bedrooms. The average for a three-bedroom home is approximately 1,950 square feet.

The home Cochran is building is 1,600 square feet. “They’re trying to encourage people to get away from the McMansions that three people, two people live in a 5,000 square foot house and much of it winds up as wasted space,” Cochran said. “

The home, being constructed in Armuchee’s Battle Farm subdivision, is expected to use half as much energy as a regular home. At the same time, the design should dispel the notion that sustainably constructed buildings have to have some sort of art high-tech look.Distributes and manufactures RUBBER SHEET,

Cochran said only 30 single-family residences across the state of Georgia have received LEED certification.

LEED points are awarded for a plethora of items.

You get points if you’re located within a half mile of a park, making sure you don’t build on prime farm land, making sure you’re within walking distances of banks, arts and entertainment centers, libraries, medical or dental offices.

“Living out in Armuchee, being within a quarter mile of six of those things is not going to happen,” Cochran said.

He plans to pile up the points in other areas, such as managing storm water runoff, use of drought tolerant plants in the landscaping, using a drip irrigation system as opposed to the traditional sprinkler-type system.

Low-flush toilets and high efficiency fixtures at lavatories and sinks will also net Cochran points.

In the energy and atmosphere category, you get points for using high value insulation like the spray foam style he’s using in the new home. Points are added for using high efficiency windows and making sure ductwork associated with the HVAC system doesn’t leak.

“The spray foam insulation I’m using in the house gives me an equivalent of R-40 in the walls and R-60 in the ceiling,” Cochran said. “I only need a three-quarter ton unit downstairs and a three-quarter ton unit upstairs so I only need one and a half tons for the whole house.”

The home will include bamboo flooring, a green alternative to traditional hardwood. Bamboo is considered a renewable resource because it grows quickly.

Points toward LEED certification are also awarded for using specific Energy Star lighting. Cochran will have about 40 light fixtures in the house and all but two will be Energy Star. He estimates that one watt of light bulb power costs $0.The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,25 a year.

The ceiling fan in the condo where Cochran now lives has six 60-watt bulbs in it, which he estimated costs about $90 a year to run. The ceiling fan that is going in the new home uses a 25-watt LED bulb. That will cost a little more than $6 a year.

That brings up the whole cost issue.Dimensional Mailing magic cube for Promotional Advertising, Cochran said having a home built to LEED standards adds at least 5 percent to the total cost up front. “I expect the ROI on that to be about five or six years,” Cochran said.

The new house will also feature a lot of natural lighting. “Every single room in the whole house, with the exception of one bathroom, has natural light in it. The windows are large enough, and we have skylights as well.”

The house does not include solar panels. “Solar is way too cost-prohibitive,” Coch-ran said. “That still wouldn’t take it off the grid.”

Cochran points out that it’s more cost-effective now to build a new home to LEED standards than it would be to convert an older home, unless the homeowner is willing to gut their entire home.

Rome-based Brooks Building Group, Inc is undertaking construction.Welcome to the online guide for do-it-yourself Ceramic tile. Owner Jeff Brooks said the residence is his first effort at a LEED project. “It’s a little different from normal,” Brooks said. “We don’t know that much about it, so we’re depending on Mark to guide us through it.”

Tackle mildew once and for all

Mildew is a type of mould - a funguslike organism that thrives in moisture-rich environments and can grow on any damp, flat surface: ceilings, tile grout, window sills, walls and even floors.

The black mildew that is commonly found in bathrooms is usually stachybotrys chartarum. In large quantities it can cause health problems in both animals and people.Spro Tech has been a plastic module & Mold Maker,

Not only does mildew look unsightly, it also produces a musty odour and, in unaired environments, can spread alarmingly quickly. Spores move through the air and can settle and grow on any surface that is damp enough.

Mildew grows quickly in warm, poorly aired rooms such as bathrooms and cellars, and it's a common problem in new builds because of moisture in the building materials.Overview description of rapid Tooling processes.

The most important thing to do is to reduce the moisture in the room. Mildew can't survive in a dry environment. There are many ways to do this.Offering high risk and offshore merchant account with credit card processing services.

It's often not practical to air a bathroom after every use, particularly if you are dashing off to work and need to leave your home secure with windows shut. But whenever you can, leave a window open immediately after a shower or bath for at least half an hour to let excess moisture evaporate and to air out the room.

If you live in one of the many homes in the UAE that doesn't have windows in the bathroom, make sure to turn your bathroom extractor fan on whenever possible. Check that your fan is working efficiently. If your fan is old or if the room is damp even with the fan on, it might be time to consider a newer, more powerful model.

If your home is a new build, be aware that a cheap and ineffective fan might have been installed, so shop around and consider upgrading to a pricier and more powerful one.

Avoid having very hot steamy showers or baths that can produce excess condensation, and try to shower quickly.

After a shower, allow the shower curtain to air by pulling it fully across the bath - and always dry towels or laundry thoroughly straight after use in a tumble drier or outside if possible.

Keep air conditioning on cooler settings. Cool air contains less moisture than warm air does, so turn your air conditioning down a notch.

Consider getting a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture from the air.Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased, Ensure it is safe to use in damp environments such as bathrooms and consult a professional electrician beforehand.

If space or budget is limited, stock up on small moisture-absorbing sachets such as Lakeland's Hanging Moisture Absorbers (Dh70). For a cheaper alternative, fill a jar with bicarbonate of soda crystals and put it on a shelf out of sight to absorb moisture in the air. Keep an eye on it and refill it regularly.

Never use electric fans in a bathroom or wet room, but in other rooms, electric fans can help to tackle the problem by circulating the air.China yiri mould is a professional manufacturer which integrates Plastic Mould design and manufacture and plastic product development.

Gross mismanagement part II B: Furthering the discussion

My last article with this same title was posted on Dec. 1, 2011. That story claimed that the current lack of enough technically competent new employees could be lessened if corporations were willing to provide on-the-job training. That article solicited a perfect storm of replies to the Editor. Fortunately the majority agreed with my conclusions.

However, many rightfully pointed out that corporate greed was only one of many factors contributing to this problem. I was chided for not sharing the blame with universities that refuse to modify their curriculum to adapt to the changing needs of industry. Government regulations and taxes were sited by several readers. Some claim that trade unions have unnecessarily driven wages and benefits to a non-competitive level.

At the same time others believe the plastics industry refuses to pay high enough wages to compete with other industries in securing and retaining the level of employees required by the increasingly complicated processes and equipment. Another pointed out that American corporations are actually spending money to train people in low-labor-rate countries, but not in the U.S.

Many of the replies, but notably S.D.'s, were well thought out. All of these comments coming with different points of view combined to expand my little article into a much more interesting and useful discussion of a topic that was obviously of interest to PlasticsToday readers. It may be presumptuous of me, but I would like to believe that all of these different comments represent the opinions and concerns of what I call the "man-in-the-street" of our part of the plastics industry. I am only sorry that I don't have a vehicle for presenting these opinions and concerns to our politicians and industry leaders.

I sincerely appreciate these replies. Regrettably I don't have the knowledge or time to individually respond to everyone. As a substitute let me leave you with three real-life short stories that address three of your comments.

I owned and ran a company called Glenn Beall Engineering (GBE) for 25 years. That company did plastic product design and development including model making, prototype moldmaking, and the injection molding of preproduction components. That company gave me experience not only in managing people but in selling to keep 13 moldmakers, six designers,Get information on Air purifier from the unbiased, and 11 other employees busy. I had to learn how to go deeply in debt purchasing capital equipment. My advice on what to consider before you buy oil painting supplies so your money is well spent. I also learned to think ahead in order to make payroll, and what to do that one payday when there wasn't enough money in the bank.
Paying high wages

With regard to the plastics industry not paying competitive wages, GBE was located close to and half-way between Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL. In order to hire employees it was necessary to pay slightly more than the high wages being paid in those two industrialized cities. The company was also half-way between Abbott Laboratories and Baxter Laboratories. Both paid average wages while providing excellent fringe benefits. My little company had a choice. We could have limited our growth and blamed that on not being able to hire enough technically competent people. Or, we could have paid higher wages and provided generous fringe benefits. We chose the later approach and the company prospered. In all fairness, I have to acknowledge that we were not competing with low-labor-rate international companies back in those days.

With regard to universities' failure to prepare their graduates for the available jobs, I once hired a mechanical engineer to work as a product designer.Shop at Lowe's for garage Ceramic tile, He had no experience in designing plastic products, but agreed to learn that technology on the job. After several frustrating weeks he revealed that he had never had a course in drafting. This was well before everything was done by computer-aided design. In retrospect I never asked him if he had been taught drafting.Compare prices and buy all brands of solar panel for home power systems and by the pallet. It was inconceivable to me that anyone could get a ME degree without at least one course in drafting and blueprint reading. Then, as now, there is a mismatch between what universities teach and what industry needs.

With regard to corporations' failure to provide on-the-job training, GBE quickly learned that we had to spend time and money training new employees. In the design department we found that the education received by degreed industrial designers allowed them to quickly become productive. We hired graduate engineers with some plastics industry experience; however, it took them much longer to master plastic product design. Our molding technicians became productive almost immediately and their value to the company grew as they gained experience.Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists.

Gov`t to tighten rules on credit card issuance next year

From the first half of next year, credit card issuance will be limited to people aged 20 or older who have more income than debt and who belong to grade one to six in credit ratings.

Out of the 6.8 million people with credit grades seven to 10, four million who have no credit cards will be banned from getting the plastic in principle.

It is also uncertain whether the credit card owned 2.8 million people with grades seven or lower will be allowed to get renewals when their cards expire.

The Financial Services Commission and the Financial Supervisory Service announced Monday the plan to reshuffle the card market aimed at curbing credit card issuance while promoting the use of debit or check cards.

The two financial watchdogs adjusted upward the age of people eligible for credit card acquisition from 18 to 20, the adult age under civil law,An offshore merchant account is the ideal solution for high ," and added the rule that people should have income exceeding the amount of principle and interests they pay in debt repayment, as well as having credit rating ranging from 1 to 6.

People who must acquire welfare cards such as teens without guardians, and housewives who stay at home while their husbands work, however, will be allowed to get their credit cards as exceptions. With the introduction of the credit rating requirement, four million people without credit cards among those with low credit ratings of grades seven to 10 cannot get credit cards unless they demonstrate that they have enough assets or income to pay for their credit card spending.

A 24-hour settlement system will also galvanize the use of debit cards and significantly increase the number of vendors using such cards for transactions. Because consumers can only use debit cards to buy up to the amount of their savings, the debit card is very effective in reducing household debts. An Air purifier is a device which removes contaminants from the air.You can find best china Precision injection molds manufacturers from here! The commission fees vendors pay to financial institutions for debit card-based transactions are also lower than that of credit cards.

New infrastructure for debit card use is planned for next year so that consumers can also use the debit cards without limit in service hours at vendors that accept credit cards. In addition, the government will request card companies to issue cards with the dual functions of credit and debit-based payments and lead consumers to be more comfortable using debit cards.

The dual function card is designed to enable consumers to pay for purchases first from their savings, and then use the credit function to pay for the remnant.

In the first quarter of next year, credit card companies has to ask customers whether they want to keep the cards or not through email or phone if those customers have not used the cards for more than one year. If customers want to nullify their cards, credit card companies must cancel them immediately.

Credit card companies will also be banned from conducting marketing activities such as bonus mileage points.

If a customer fails to respond within a month, the credit card in question will get suspended and then unconditionally nullified three months later. This means that a credit card that remains unused for one year and five months will become automatically nullified.

The financial authority will also tightly manage credit limits in order to handle mounting household debts due to reckless use of plastic. For this purpose, credit card companies should define credit limits when a client first signs up for a credit card, and set the credit limit at an appropriate level by considering the member`s capacity to repay, credit rating, and records of credit card use.

The government`s strict control of credit limit does not mean credit card companies can arbitrarily change or halt auxiliary service of credit cards. They will be banned from changing the conditions of auxiliary service within one year after card issuance, and must inform users of any changes six months prior to changes even after one year.

The commission fees vendors pay to credit card companies, a topic of heated controversy, will change from one based on industry type to one on an individual vendor basis. Instead of setting commission rates by the sectors of food and restaurants, luxury and entertainment, individual member vendors will be charged varying rates of commissions according to sales volume and cost portions.Wholesaler of different types of Ceramic tile for your kitchen,

Brand Beckham meets Brand Qatar

His representatives have denied the media reports, but by all accounts, David Beckham is headed to Paris St. Germain, where he will be paid a salary double what he made with the Los Angeles Galaxy. At 36 and with a recent history of injuries, Beckham's value to PSG is debatable. But as the French great Michel Platini, now president of UEFA, famously said, if Beckham is coming to Paris, it isn't to play soccer.

Beckham is part of a game of geopolitics that involves France and Qatar at the highest levels.

Qatar is scheduled to host the 2022 World Cup and needs to legitimize its place as a player on the international soccer scene.

Just as they bought the World Cup, the Qatari royals have set out to buy everything that is big and beautiful in the world of soccer.

For the first time ever, Barcelona -- the best team in the world by a mile -- has agreed to accept money to give someone the right to put its name on the front of its jersey.Information on useful yeasts and moulds, That someone is something called the Qatar Foundation, operated by the Qatar government, and the amount is $230 million over five years.

The inside connection: Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, whose sports marketing agency, Bonus Sports Marketing, helped establish the Aspire Football Dreams program that is believed to have done much of Qatar's grassroots bidding on its World Cup 2022 campaign.

In the case of Paris St.The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, Germain, the Qatari crown prince, Sheik Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani,Exclusive RUBBER SHEET flooring in 15 different colours and designs. has gone one step further and bought a 70 percent stake in the club through Qatar Sports Investments.

On the television front, Al-Jazeera, the Qatar-owned Arab broadcaster, has moved into France and started buying up soccer rights: French cable rights to Ligue 1 games each Friday and Sunday and most recently the UEFA Champions League and overseas rights to Ligue 1 matches.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the chairman of Qatar Sports Investments and the person responsible for running PSG, is also the head of sports at Al-Jazeera.

The Qatari-French link goes to the top of the French government, where President Nicolas Sarkozy has developed close ties to the Qatari royals.

According to the French magazine So Foot, Sarkozy organized a meeting on Nov.You can find best china Precision injection molds manufacturers from here! 23, 2010 -- nine days before the World Cup 2022 was awarded -- at which were present Platini,We are passionate about polished tiles. Al-Thani and Sebastien Bazin, the European representative of Colony Capital, the American investment firm that owned PSG. The subject: Qatar's possible investment in PSG.

Platini denies his 2022 vote for Qatar -- one of the European votes the USA coveted -- was on orders from Sarkozy, but let's put it this way. He would have had a lot of explaining to do if he returned to Paris and the USA had won.

PSG surely doesn't need him on the field. Yes, he enjoyed the best of his five seasons with the Galaxy, helping it win the MLS title, but he was given a very defined role in the middle of midfield to take advantage of what he could do and not do.

But Beckham will struggle in Ligue 1, a league that puts a premium on athleticism. Platini was blunt about the Englishman's move to PSG.

"I love this player but he is not the footballer he was," said Platini. "And if he comes to Paris now, it will be to do something other than football."

Beckham is a natural fit for the Qatar Sports Investments, a player whose worldwide fame far exceeds what he has accomplished on the field in his career.

During the World Cup 2018/22 race that pitted Qatar against England in opposing camps, Beckham was about the only person involved in the English bid effort who came of it with his reputation enhanced.

"David Beckham is bigger than sport," Al-Khelaifi told L'Equipe. "He is an ambassador, a brand, an example for others." Then Al-Khelaifi added, "He is also and still a very good soccer player whose age isn't a problem."

Saugatuck Shore contemporary: water views, many features

A sign posted on a house in the Saugatuck Shore section of Westport reads, "May your time be filled with relaxing sunsets, cool drinks and sand between your toes."

All of that and more awaits the next owners of the contemporary house at 60 Harbor Road. It packs a lot of value into a compact living space.Tru-Form Plastics is a one-stop shop for plastic Injection Molding,

The 1,738-square-foot house sits on a property measuring one-tenth of an acre; small house, small parcel. But the gray cedar house is in a prime location directly across the street from Long Island Sound and there are water views from virtually every room. It's the perfect location for leisurely living; a relaxing environment to return to after a busy day at work nearby or in New York City only 40 miles away.

A room, which is currently used as an office, has a closet and therefore could be used as a bedroom if necessary. There are two other bedrooms on this main level. The master bedroom has a spa bath with a barn-style door, a glass shower cube, jetted tub, marble counter and radiant heated floor. The floor comprises ceramic tile that gives the appearance of wood planks.

The guest bedroom does not have its own bath but there is a full bath directly across the hall from it.

A spacious loft could also be pressed into service as a bedroom if there was need for another one. The loft is plumbed so that a bath could be added on that level.

The lower level includes the laundry room, which also has a heated floor, storage areas and access to the three-car garage. It's unusual enough to have a garage in a house this close to the shore, no less a three-car garage, which would be ideal for a multi-car household, vintage car collector or boat owner.

Annapolis leaders consider allowing chickens in backyards

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get into Annapolis' city limits, of course.

This is not just a corny joke: City leaders are considering giving homeowners the right to raise chickens in their backyards. Today, chickens are strictly prohibited in Annapolis neighborhoods.

Officials said they don't expect to get egg on their face with this one.

"You're going to be surprised about how many people have been waiting for this," said Maria Broadbent, director of neighborhood and environmental programs.

If passed, the law would allow residents to keep up to five egg-laying hens, so long as the chicken coops meet a minimum setback requirement of 5 feet from neighbors' property lines. In Anne Arundel County, chickens are allowed, but only on properties with at least 40,000 square feet.

While fewer cities than counties have ordinances on backyard chickens, Annapolis wouldn't be alone. Chicken coops in Baltimore require a minimum setback of 25 feet from an adjacent property, according to the city's research.

That research was partially conducted by a couple of South River High School students. Jillian Buck and Brianna Ong, who were juniors in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics magnet program last year, partnered with the city for their Community Challenge project. They called it "Hens in the City."

The students also investigated potential drawbacks, such as noise, odor, diseases and upkeep and tried to debunk some common myths about the livestock.

Here are some of the findings:

Chicken clucks (between 20 and 40 decibels) are within the city's acceptable noise range (65 decibels by day, 55 decibels by night). They might get a little louder if they're laying.

Routine handwashing regimens can prevent illnesses.

Five chickens produce less than half the amount of poop a 40-pound dog makes in a day.

Buck, who is now a student representative on the Anne Arundel County school board, said she's excited she helped lay the groundwork for legislation.

"It was a great opportunity," she said, adding that the research made her a believer in backyard chickens. "I'm a huge animal lover, so I'm totally for it. Why not have fresh eggs every day?"

Jasmine Coleman, an English teacher for STEM who worked with the students, said she was impressed with the quality of their work.

"Projects like this give students real world experiences that they definitely need," she said. "That's invaluable."

Broadbent said while the students and her department looked at codes in other municipalities, adopting the county's policy wouldn't be reasonable for Annapolis, especially because many of the properties are not that large.

"If we used the county's legislation, the percentage of people who actually could have chickens would be really small," she said.

Mayor Josh Cohen said requests for backyard chickens have really picked up, especially from people with interests in sustainable lifestyles and buying foods locally.

"What's old is new again," he said.

Jessica Pachler, an Eastport resident who has advocated for chickens, said she likes the idea of being able to have fresh eggs for her kids every morning for breakfast.

Pachler, who occasionally freelances for The Capital, said she has been growing tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, lettuce, potatoes,As a professional manufacturer of China ceramic tile in China, onions, squash and carrots in her garden for some time. When she became a mother, she started paying more attention to where her foods come from and how they're grown.Smooth-On is your source for Mold Making and casting materials including silicone rubber and urethane rubber,

She's always been fond of chickens,Full-service custom manufacturer of precision plastic injection mold, and her children get a kick out of the ones Pachler's father raises on his farm, she said.

"It's the getting the eggs they love," Pachler said. "A lot of kids who have grown up in cities - they think eggs come out of a grocery store, and I want our kids to know eggs come from a chicken."

Broadbent said for the bill to pass, the city would have to do some work in educating the community on the benefits and dispel myths. Chickens are good for eating insects and grubs, she said, and for those with stink bug problems, a couple of chickens could be their saviors.

The city would not issue permits for chicken owners. City officials would investigate only in situations in which neighbors have complained.

The bill ruffled a few feathers when it was introduced at the City Council meeting Dec. 12, but mainly in the spirit of humor.Buy oil paintings for sale online.

Because of noise issues, the legislation would prohibit roosters. Alderman Dick Israel, D-Ward 1, took that as an opportunity to make a political history wonk's joke: "I would also point out that in 1973, this state adopted in its constitution a prohibition against discriminating on the basis of sex," he said.

But Alderwoman Classie Hoyle,Information on useful yeasts and moulds, D-Ward 3, had a serious question about the logistics of the birds - and the bees. It seems there may be a learning curve when it comes to animal husbandry.

"I want to know how chickens can lay eggs without roosters," she said.

Alderwoman Sheila Finlayson, D-Ward 4, said she remembers when she grew up in Eastport there were people in the neighborhood who kept chickens. The idea of bringing back chickens in the 21st century just didn't make sense to her.

"Do we want to go forward, or do we want to go backward?" she asked. "We're becoming a farm city."

But perhaps a "farm city" isn't that far off the mark. Locally grown, organic, free-range foods are all part of the trendy sustainability movement that's reaching communities all over the nation, city officials said.

When leaving home is the only way out

EVERY culture has its own spectre of hardship, says economist Alan Barrett. For Germans, it is the hyper-inflation of the Weimar Republic and its destruction of families' hard-earned savings. For the English, it is the rationing during and after World War II, which left some in that generation still prone to hoarding every time headlines cause alarm. For the Irish, it is landlessness.

Their folk memory turns on the stories of the potato famine of the 1840s, when starving people were evicted from their homes by English landlords and died by the roadsides with grass stains around their mouths.

Even today,The Transaction Group offers the best high risk merchant account services, says Professor Barrett, of Trinity College, Dublin, "in the social collective consciousness, losing your property and eviction are the worst things that can possibly happen."

This has led to a national preoccupation with property ownership, agrees Professor Piaras Mac Einri of Cork University, "We have an obsession with land. Owning your own land is the biggest thing you can do.Hand-painted Chinese porcelain tiles on the floor of a Jewish synagogue in Cochin,''

Which partly explains what has happened with traditionally frugal, hard-working Ireland. In the 15 years to 2008 the country boomed, proclaimed as "the Celtic Tiger". On a surge of prosperity and optimism, and turbo-charged by low interest rates, Ireland spent billions building roads, luxury hotels, golf courses, and a gleaming, futuristic, 600 million (A$783 million) international airport,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free, T2. The Irish also borrowed heavily to buy into a feverish local property market.

Barrett, who is on secondment from Ireland's Economic and Social Research Institute, says: "If you asked anybody what was the big benefit of the Celtic Tiger,Omega Plastics are leading plastic injection moulding and injection mould tooling specialists. I think a lot of people would have answered that for the first time ever, if you were born in Ireland you could assume that you could live and work in Ireland for the rest of your life."

But the Celtic Tiger is now a mewing kitten. Last month marked the first anniversary of Ireland's humiliating bailout by the troika of the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund, without which it would be bankrupt. Ireland has also just suffered its fourth consecutive austerity budget, this time one that provides an "adjustment" of 3.8 billion through increased taxes and slashed spending. It follows cuts of 4 billion last year.

The Irish are talking about unemployment tripling to 14.5 per cent with 450,000 now jobless, about the way houses have lost half their value and about the big cuts to salaries and social services that make life harder. But there is another painful Irish spectre that is not getting as much airplay - forced emigration.

Emma and Eoin Monaghan are typical of those hardest hit by the crash. They have regretfully decided that they must leave the country if they and their children are to have a future. He is 35 and works as a thermal insulator; she is 29 and works part-time as a make-up artist. They have two children, five-year-old Jamie and baby Maleah,Buy oil paintings for sale online. nine months, and live in a Celtic Tiger-era housing estate at Donabate, on the edge of Dublin.

They did what they thought was the responsible thing and bought a house before they had children, at a time when prices were rising fast, because they feared they might not get into the market at all if they dithered.

"The day we actually bought, there was a big queue," Emma says. "They said if you didn't bring your deposit within 24 hours you would lose your place. We were so frightened that we wouldn't even get on the property ladder."

They were conservative, for the time; they took a mortgage of 100 per cent, when all around them people were borrowing even more than that to add on a car, or a renovation. Between 1998 and 2008, Irish banks borrowed 300 billion to fund loans for property speculation, which amounted to 2 times the country's gross domestic product.

Free to good home

For a limited time, you can get that doggie in the window for free. Or a playful cat.

Free adoptions and a thrift-store sale are the result of a fire Monday night that damaged the Humane Society of South Mississippi, but injured none of the animals housed at the shelter in Gulfport on 25th Avenue, also known as U.S.As a professional manufacturer of China ceramic tile in China, 49.

HSSM had reduced its $50- to $100-adoption costs to a $10 donation Tuesday morning and then learned an anonymous donor has offered to cover all adoption costs until further notice.

“We live in a great place,” HSSM Executive Director Tara High said. “There is always a silver lining.”

HSSM needs to place 50 to 100 animals immediately to keep a more manageable number of animals safe while damage from fire,An offshore merchant account is the ideal solution for high , smoke and water are repaired.

Ceiling repairs, for instance, can create fumes that could harm the animals, High said.

Of 260 animals housed at the time of the fire, 61 had been classified as strays. They had no identification and had not been microchipped. Anyone who has lost a pet is asked to call the shelter at 863-4394.

HSSM is unable to accept additional animals until further notice.

Its thrift store has knocked prices down to 50 percent off except for clothing, which sold for 10 cents apiece Tuesday and drops to a nickel per item today and a penny per item Thursday. Some of the clothes smell like smoke, as do some items made with fabric.

The fire started in the shelter’s laundry room, which created an immediate need for towels, sheets and blankets,This is interesting cube puzzle and logical game. which are used for baths and bedding, High said.

“We are asking for people to think of us now if they have towels and bedding they want to get rid of,” she said.Information on useful yeasts and moulds,

The fire won’t affect HSSM’s spay and neuter clinic, which is separated from the rest of the building by a brick wall.

Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said the blaze started in a laundry hamper, where hot rubber matting from a freshly dried load apparently ignited lint or a towel. The laundry had been placed in a garbage bag and then placed inside a plastic bag, he said.

An employee noticed the fire while checking to make sure doors were locked. Five trucks and 16 firefighters responded, and about 30 employees and their relatives showed up in an emotional gathering, waiting to see if the animals were safe.

“Our vet has finished checking all of them, and gave us a thumbs-up,The EZ Breathe home Ventilation system is maintenance free,” High said.

Different companies have been coming in to assess damage and estimate repair costs, and insurance adjusters are coming today, she said.

The design of the state-of-the art building helped protect the animals, High said.

“There’s metal doors that close off the sections so if there is a fire, there is something to protect the animals,” she said.

Sprinklers did not go off in the retail section, where pet supplies are sold.

County working to solve grit issue; composting operation may be proposed

Hall County Supervisor Steve Schuppan said he's looking "for a long-term solution to a long-term problem" -- the disposal of grit from the meatpacking industry on area farmland.

"What happened up by Cairo this year cannot happen again," Schuppan said.

Chamness Technologies had stockpiled grit from the JBS Swift & Co. meatpacking plant on farmland near Cairo until crops were harvested and the material could be incorporated into the ground.

The pile was there for months. It was rained on and fermented to the point that it gave off "a dead smell," Schuppan said.

Supervisors got phone calls.Whilst RUBBER SHEET are not deadly, Some residents came to the supervisors' Nov. 8 meeting to complain.

"You can't go outside, can't hang out clothes," said Beverly Hatfield, whose home was adjacent to the pile at 190th and Airport roads.

Supervisors called in Chamness and Swift for a frank, 90-minute talk on Nov. 21.

It began with a five-person county committee asking exactly what grit is.

Chamness and Swift officials explained it is essentially pen waste -- sand, manure, straw, hair and corn that is pretreated to remove the grease in order to produce as dry a product as possible. Grit does not have straight blood in it, but it can have traces of blood, as the pens are washed out with a recycled water that can have blood in it, they explained.

Schuppan wondered if an additive could be used to reduce the smell.

Chamness owner Gary Chamness said pile sizes could be reduced, but a better long-term solution may be the addition of a composting unit in Hall County.

It "could help not only Swift, but the G.I. wastewater treatment, restaurants and grocery stores with their spoiled and out-of-date foods," Chamness told the county committee, according to written minutes.

Chamness invited the county representatives to visit a composting facility the company has in Dodge City, Kan.

Supervisors Schuppan, Dan Purdy and Bob McFarland and Hall County Facilities Director Loren "Doone" Humphrey, who serves as the county's zoning administrator, visited Kansas on Nov. 29.

"We were very impressed with what we saw down there," Schuppan said.

It appeared to be a well-run operation.

"It doesn't smell like the stuff they've piled on the fields" in Hall County, Schuppan said.

So Hall County is looking to do more research. Schuppan wonders if allowing a regulated composting operation in Hall County would prevent the noxious piles found earlier this year from cropping up again on Hall County farms. He wonders, too, if such a facility could benefit other Grand Island businesses.

"Nothing's been decided," Schuppan stressed. It's hard to beat the versatility of polished tiles on a production line. "We're just going to explore this.we supply all kinds of oil painting supplies,"

While more study is done on the composting operation itself, Schuppan said, where such a facility could be located can also be studied.

He said Chamness is interested in about 20 acres at the Cornhusker Industrial Park, which is owned by the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp.

The industrial park is in the center of the former Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. The 20-square-mile plant site has specific zoning that prevents house construction due to groundwater contamination that resulted from bomb production.

"It could be isolated," Schuppan said.

This is not the first time Chamness has brought up the idea of locating a composting operation at the former bomb plant.

In May 1999, Chamness asked the Hall County Reuse Committee to name it the designated buyer of 100 to 200 acres at the former bomb plant. The committee and Hall County board had been given special federal authority to oversee how the plant land would be returned to the tax rolls.

By August 1999, Chamness had upped his request to 600 acres for a composting operation. He wanted to buy the bomb production lines, known as load lines.

His request prompted nine more designated buyer requests from other property owners. Ultimately,A long established toolmaking and trade Injection moulds company. the Army rejected the idea of composting operations on the load lines until environmental cleanup could be done.

The Army completed that cleanup and sold off the land. By then, the county had designated the economic development corporation as the buyer with the intent of using the land for business development. Southern Power District was a designated buyer of adjacent land and has brought in a grass composting operation and concrete recyclers.

The economic development corporation has leased land to a wood recycler as well.Great Rubber offers rubber hose keychains,

In his initial proposal in 1999, Chamness asked the county for land to compost "nonhazardous organic byproduct." He defined that as yard waste, wood pallets, cardboard, paper, corn stalks, manure, food production waste, leftover seed and other out-of-date agricultural products.

"It's all pretty preliminary," Chamness attorney Jerry Janulewicz said.

He would not specify the Cornhusker Industrial Park as a site for a Chamness operation and said there may be other places of interest.

But like Schuppan, Janulewicz said a composting operation may be the best way to handle agricultural byproducts.

"When you land apply grit, you apply to land that is being cultivated, cropland, so there are times that it can't be applied, but yet it's being generated all year long," Janulewicz said. "The present situation requires that this material be stockpiled during certain times of the year and then applied to the land after the crops are harvested.

"The advantage of composting ... is you don't have the stockpiling issue," Janulewicz said. "The material can be processed all year long, and the result is a valuable type of material."

If agreements can be reached, he said, there may be long-term benefits for residents, farmers and other businesses.

"It provides a better solution to the application or disposal of the materials that come out of Swift," Janulewicz said.

The county board is to continue talks with Chamness this month for short-term solutions regarding grit handling, while long-term solutions remain under study, Janulewicz and Schuppan said.

A Christmas of rescuing chickens and cooking collards

A year ago, the six of us still fit into the little log cabin that we moved into in 2009. We bought a tree, and we threaded colored lights through its branches, but our boxes of ornaments and Santas sat unopened in storage. Instead,If any food Ventilation system condition is poorer than those standards,Your source for re-usable Plastic moulds of strong latex rubber. my four children and I painted the walls of the addition to our 1930s cabin, my husband installed tile in the two new bathrooms and bamboo flooring down the hall. We all six stained wood for the ceilings and paneling, and my husband and sons caulked cracks and crevices everywhere.

We spent December Saturdays studying carpet remnants in a discount warehouse and swept drywall dust and red dirt from the plywood floors before the carpet was installed. We collected paint chips to compare in the light that filtered in the windows of what we affectionately call “the children’s wing.100 China ceramic tile was used to link the lamps together.” We collected rocks to cover the concrete foundation and looked at light fixtures the Habitat ReStore. We couldn’t use our original rock fireplace because the unlined chimney posed a fire hazard.

This year, like last year, I still spend my evenings checking to be sure my chickens are safe. Monday night in the dark rain of daylight savings time, I climbed a ladder looking for one wayward chicken that hadn’t found its way into the coop. I climbed atop the domed rooster domain, and as the wind picked up, I spotted the chicken hiding beneath a tarp. I grabbed it by its wing, and it squawked hysterically as I tried to put it in the new coop my husband built for the hens.

“Stop,” I told it while it flapped frantically in my face. “I’m saving your life,”

I still feed my old horses twice a day, and I still usually have hay in my hair when I drive my son to high school. My children still go to swim practices and soccer practices and now volleyball practices, too.

I planted a winter garden with collards, even though I don’t know how to cook them.

This weekend, my third son helped me bring out our Christmas decorations. We hung wreaths on the windows and lights on the tree. But the ornament boxes still sit in the middle of the den because the six of us haven’t been home at the same time to share a moment decorating our tree. Each child has a box holding hand-made treasures from preschool and photo ornaments my mother has given them each year. We’ve hung our stockings above our newly lined chimney that we’re now using to help heat the house.

I still try to make dinner for all of us as often as I can. My second son swims for his high school team, so he rarely joins us now. I suspect he’s thankful for his busy schedule since I attempted to cook collards and turnips this week.

“They’re not too bad if you add a lot of salt and vinegar,” my 11-year-old daughter warned her 13-year-old brother who studied the vegetable on his plate.

Organic fertilizer versus synthetics for home gardens

As the market for organic products keeps expanding, consumers have become increasingly savvy as to the drawbacks and benefits of organic products compared to their inorganic counterparts.

Much of the time, however, I have found the more I read about a given organic product and why I should be willing to (typically) pay a little more for it, the more I’m confused. For example, take the apple. If I buy the organic version, I’m supporting pesticide-free farming. A good thing- right? On the other had, pesticides have increased the yield of fruit per acre of land. So if I buy that organic apple,If so, you may have a cube puzzle .Your source for re-usable Plastic moulds of strong latex rubber. am I really supporting decreased effectiveness of farmland in a world where millions of people are starving? It turns out that what the “right” choice is can be argued many different ways.

However, one organic product line where this confusion remains absent for me is organic fertilizer for the home gardener. And I stress, my opinion relates to the home gardener only. The issue of organic versus synthetic fertilizer on a commercial agricultural scale is a matter too vast and varied for this article.

One particular feature of organic fertilizer typically absent in synthetic or chemical fertilizer tips the scale for me: unlike synthetic fertilizers which are water-soluble and can be absorbed by your plants almost immediately, organic fertilizers (like kelp, fish emulsion, bone meal,Your Partner in Precision Precision injection molds. blood meal and alfalfa) require the assistance of microbial life in the soil to break them down before the plant can access the nutrients.

The delayed-release feature is beneficial to plants and soil in numerous ways. First, it’s much harder to overfeed your plants, since they will only have what has been broken down by the soil microbes. Second, it’s much harder to wash the nutrients away with deep watering. Because synthetic fertilizers are highly water-soluble, they can leach out into streams and ponds. Finally, plants that have been fertilized organically typically enjoy a longer “feeding” period due to the extended break-down process.

The delayed-release feature of organic fertilizers benefits the soil just like it benefits your plants. Because most synthetic fertilizers are composed of high concentrations of mineral salts, they are capable of killing off many of the soil organisms responsible for healthy soil formation. Organic fertilizers, on the other hand, support microbial life in your soil which, in turn, benefits the soil itself — and healthy soil is the key to a healthy garden.

I’ve put up with your applications of steer manure under the roses,Do not use cleaners with porcelain tiles , steel wool or thinners. kelp liquid and chicken manure in the vegetables, and fish emulsion practically everywhere. And so I’ve put up with a rose garden that smells more like a cow pasture,Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar Air purifier systems, a vegetable garden that smells like a chicken coop and a shade garden that smells like low tide.

Truly, just after you’ve applied your organic fertilizers, if one were to walk blindfolded around our garden, the smells they would encounter would lead them to believe they were likely in some Middle Eastern bazaar rather than a proper garden.

As you know, I’ve also patiently filled in the holes our dog Conner invariably digs every time you apply the stuff so he can roll in it. I can’t stress enough how hard it is to get emulsified fish stank out of his coat.

An emerald green lawn is an American birthright — like baseball, cheesy-fries and ignorance of geography. For my money, a granulized, synthetic fertilizer gets it green quicker and easier.

I understand that when applying a standard synthetic lawn fertilizer, the application rate and directions need to be followed. It’s a chemical, and all chemicals have risks. If applied in excessive amounts, or on windy days, it can leach into the groundwater or flow into our rivers and streams through runoff. But, I would argue, if applied correctly, these risks can be minimized.

What will your pet find under the Christmas tree?

Sixty-eight percent of pets getting gifts can look forward to a toy, 45 percent to food or another treat, 8 percent new bedding, 6 percent clothing, 3 percent a leash, collar or harness and 3 percent new grooming products, the poll showed. (Some pets will get more than one gift.)

"Christmas is about the pets," said Gayla McCarthy, 58, of Kekaha, Hawaii, whose Australian shepherd, Echo, will find a toy under the tree. McCarthy even got a shirt for her husband as a gift to him from the dog, and she'll be giving collapsible bowls that she ordered online to all their friends' dogs.

Although the average budget for pet gifts among those surveyed was $46, 72 percent of those polled said they'd spend $30 or less. Those who bought gifts for their pets last year said they spent $41 on average.

Income does matter. Those making $50,000 or more say they plan to spend an average $57 on their pets. Those making under $50,there's a lovely winter chicken coop by William Zorach.000 say it will be $29.

Major pet retailers have been taking part in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday frenzy for a few years.Detailed information on the causes of oil painting reproduction, Petco Animal Supplies Inc. plans a 72-hour "Black Friday Weekend Blowout," said Greg Seremetis, vice president of marketing.

Products for both pets and pet owners will be available, he said. "Including pets in holiday gift-giving has been a growing trend in the last few years. More and more pets are being treated as family members and being included in holiday traditions, including having a gift waiting for them under the tree," he said.

PetSmart Inc. plans to open stores at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, then continue with a "Countdown to Christmas" sale, said spokeswoman Stephanie Foster.

Online retailer Foster & Smith Inc. plans a live, streaming, four-hour (11 a.m. - 3 p.m. EST) webcast full of sales and giveaways on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, spokesman Gordon Magee said. "As far as we know, with the exception of QVC ..., no other retailer has done a live broadcast like this on Black Friday and Cyber Monday," Magee said.Whilst RUBBER SHEET are not deadly, "We are going to give it a go.It's hard to beat the versatility of polished tiles on a production line."

Younger pet owners are more apt to say they'll buy their pet a holiday gift, including 56 percent of pet owners under age 50. Among those ages 50-64, it's 47 percent, and among seniors, 39 percent, the poll showed.

Lauren Beard, 22, of Felton,Initially the banks didn't want our kidney stone . Pa., and her family lavished their dog Groovy with gifts last year — including treats and bones — because it was the chocolate lab's first Christmas. "We still love her but it's a little less exciting this year," Beard said. So she reduced her budget of $70 last year to $50, and hopes to get some things on sale. She'll also buy a gift for Groovy's best friend and neighbor, a golden retriever named Tessie, Beard said.

Ronda Singleton and her husband live in Elk, Wash., and raise and show standard poodles. But they don't plan to get gifts for their dogs or for each other. "If we need something, we go get it," she explained, adding that the dogs get treats all the time. She and her husband like to celebrate holidays with traditional dinners and church services.
