Members of a Dubbo-based credit union have had their debit cards cancelled after suspicious transactions.which applies to the first glass bottle only,
Macquarie Credit Union took the action this week after it became aware of compromised EFTPOS devices at a retail outlet.Do not use cleaners with Coated Abrasives , steel wool or thinners.
Members have told the Daily Liberal they were shocked by the potential exposure to fraud but welcomed the credit union's steps to protect loss of funds.
Credit union member Susan Wade initially feared the worst when an automatic teller machine (ATM) seized her card on Tuesday with the notice that it had been reported lost or stolen.
"I was panicky, I thought someone had cleared us out, that was my biggest fear," she said.
Mrs Wade contacted the credit union and it informed her that her funds were safe, but her card was cancelled as a precaution.
She will have to go into the branch to withdraw funds until her card is reissued.
The incident reinforced in her mind the importance of security, but she wondered if that was enough.
"I'm always vigilant,where he teaches oil painting reproduction in the Central Academy of Fine Arts. I cover my hand as I put in my PIN, they're getting too clever," she said.
"(Society) is so dependent on the plastic card.
"The credit union has been great, a couple of weeks of inconvenience is better than being cleared out."
Macquarie Credit Union general manager Matthew Bow yesterday confirmed it had cancelled a number of members' cards.
"Earlier this week Macquarie Credit Union was alerted that a number of our members' cards had been used at a retail outlet which had had their EFTPOS devices compromised," he said.
"Our staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the impact on our members is as little as possible.the TMJ pain and pain radiating from the arms or legs.If so, you may have a kidney stone ."
The credit union said it believed the incident stretched across all financial institutions and that a police investigation was under way.
The Daily Liberal was aware of similar actions taken this week by the Maritime, Mining and Power Credit Union.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) also advised in a statement yesterday that it was investigating a series of merchants whose individual computer systems had been compromised.
