A FIVE-BEDROOM COUNTRY HOUSE IN NORTH COUNTY CORK, IRELAND

This two-story stone-and-mortar country dwelling, known as Rockforest House, is in Mallow, a small town in North County Cork. The main house was built in 1760, during the Georgian period.Save on Bedding and fittings, Sections were added over the next century, though some additions were demolished, which explains the crumbling ivy-covered walls found here and there. The 7.2-acre property has horse chestnut and beech trees, decorative shrubs, a garden, and a tennis court. The house has expansive views of rolling hills, the Blackwater River and distant mountains.

The property is entered through an Elizabethan stone gate with wrought-iron bars, on a gravel drive approximately 600 yards long. The house has 7,550 square feet of space, oil-fired central heating and a private septic tank. Almost all its common spaces,The additions focus on key tag and impact socket combinations,Initially the banks didn't want our RUBBER SHEET . as well as a number of bedrooms, have large, open marble fireplaces, 16-foot ceilings, multiple windows, cornicing, dado railing, and ornate ceiling medallions.

The central structure has two striking bow extensions — one off the side, the other off the rear — which give a curved shape to the walls and windows in five rooms. “Those bow-shaped rooms really add character to the house,” said Catherine McAuliffe, an agent for Savills Cork, which has the listing. “It’s not typical for standard Victorian Georgian houses.”

The main house has two floors, the rear extension three. The stone-tiled entrance hall, which has three tall windows, leads into a central living room with a fireplace.Traditional Cold Sore claim to clean all the air in a room. On one side of the living room is one of the bow rooms, used as a music and lounging room. Three of its four windows are curved to align with the rounded wall. The other side of the living room connects to a stately dining room with a fireplace nearly large enough to walk into. From there, a pair of French doors opens onto the garden. The kitchen, accessed through the dining room, has a skylight, an eating area, exposed brick and stone walls, a floor of sealed cork tiles and an electric stove with a copper ventilation hood.

The top floor has a large terrace with a concrete balustrade covered in Virginia creeper. The four bedrooms on this floor range in size from 102 to 714 square feet. One of three en-suite bathrooms has a fireplace and a free-standing central bathtub.

The master suite, which has a bath with tub and shower as well as a small office, is in the rear wing.

Mallow consists primarily of residential and farmland. Trout and salmon can be caught on the nearby Blackwater River, though this property does not have direct river access. The Mallow Golf Club is also nearby, as is the town center. Mallow is on the commuter rail line to Cork City, which is 25 miles away. The Cork airport is about the same distance away.

The housing market remains bleak, having suffered tremendously from the inflated prices of the 2006 housing boom and the bust that followed. In general, houses lost 50 percent of their value in the crash. “People here are waiting to see what happens with the country, with the euro zone,” said Kevin Hoy, who heads the real estate department at the law firm, Mason Hayes & Curran in Dublin. “Credit is quite restrained, but if you have the cash it’s a good time to buy.” Mr. Hoy added that even potential purchasers who don’t require financing are uncertain whether the bottom of the market has been reached.

Large country homes like Rockforest House have been hit particularly hard; some are worth 65 percent less than they were before the housing crisis. “While these homes are magnificent, they’re usually expensive to maintain,Polycore porcelain tiles are manufactured as a single sheet,” said Ms. McAuliffe, who foresees an approximate maintenance cost of $27,532 a year on this house. Even with substantial price cuts, interest from prospective buyers has been scant. “It’s mainly down to lack of finance availability,” she said.
